Plainfield Concerts at 7
Welcome to Plainfield Concerts at 7 and our 3rd season! We are a non-profit volunteer community arts program that sponsors classical music concerts. We believe that art is an essential part of any thriving community and that arts lift the spirit and raise the collective consciousness. We collaborate with musicians in an effort to bring music to the hilltowns and to encourage a thriving community of artists and appreciation of art within the hilltown communities.
Our first concert of the 2011 season is Monday, July 25
featuring MUSIC FOR BRASS QUINTET with Principal Tuba, Mike
Roylance; Associate Principal Trumpet, Thomas Siders; and Michael Martin,
trumpet, Jason Snider, French Horn and Stephen Lange, trombone, all members of
the Boston Symphony Orchestra. They will perform a spectacular program of works
by J.S.Bach/Rosenthal, Paul Hindemith, Percy Grainger and Eugene Bozza, in some
of the most demanding and exciting virtuoso pieces of the brass literature,
including Eugene Bozza's tour de force, the "Sonatine for Brass"; Hindemith's
"Morgen Musik" and a Percy Grainger Suite with "Six Dukes Went a-Fishin', "As
Sally Sat a-Weeping" and other movements along with the Rosenthal arrangement of
a J.S.Bach "Fantasie".
The concert is open to the public, free of
charge, as a gift from the church to the wider community. A reception to which
all are invited will follow the concert.
